The second meeting in the month is generally reserved for the WKCC monthly theme competition. The monthly category is chosen by the winner of the previous month’s competition. The winner is chosen by selected judges or by a show of hands following a slide-show presentation of all entries. Judges critique the top three images, at least, and open the floor for member discussion and feedback.
Submission instructions and image preparation
Interpretations of the theme by the photographer may vary widely. The competition is designed to test camera skills. Standard image corrections such as level adjustment, colour balance, cropping, and sharpening are allowed, but heavy image manipulation in photo-editing programs is not permitted.
Members have one month to shoot and submit images. They may be submitted by email to the monthly theme coordinator prior to the meeting or brought directly to meetings on a CD or USB drive. Alternatively, images may be entered as 4 x 6 inch prints.
To prepare photos for both the monthly theme contest and the monthly theme gallery on this website see the photo preparation page.
