WKCC invites only qualified photography judges, typically from across BC and the US, to serve as judges for the event. Their expertise in photography and the world of art adds a much appreciated validity to the event.
Each photo print is judged individually under gallery lighting by three judges. A scribe is assigned to each judge to record their comments and scores. An entry is scored from 1 to 10 points, with a cumulative highest possible score of 30 points from three judges. The highest scores in each category are winners. Ribbons are awarded for first, second, and third place, with an honourable mention in the event of a tie for third place. All entries are displayed at the Photo Show exhibition with accompanying ribbons, scores and judges’ comments. The deadline for entering the competition is usually in April, with official judging taking place around the second weekend in May.
Covid-19 has people wisely sheltering in place and the 2020 WKCC Photo Show Committee with the approval of the WKCC executive decided to cancel this year’s show.
